Palestina wint de strijd om legitimiteit – 28

Citaat Richard Falk, voormalig rapporteur UNHCR

“My deeper conviction is that the appearance of Palestinian defeat is an optical illusion that hides the probability of eventual Israeli defeat—that while Israel is winning one war due to its military dominance and continuous establishment of “facts on the ground,” Palestine is winning what in the end is the more important war, the struggle for legitimacy, which is most likely to determine the political outcome.” Richard Falk

“There are no innocent people in Gaza. Everyone’s connected to Hamas, everyone gets a salary from Hamas and all the activists trying to challenge us and breach the border are Hamas military wing activists.” (Avigdor Lieberman, minister van Defensie in Israël)

Alice Walker citaat
“It is because I recognize the brutality with which my own multi-branched ancestors have been treated that I can identify the despicable, lawless, cruel, and sadistic behavior that has characterized Israel’s attempts to erase a people, the Palestinians, from their own land.” – Alice Walker

Ghada Karmi: “Seeing only the ripples, it was easy to confuse the original cause with its effects.” – 67

Ghada Karmi citaat over de nakba.

“Just as the ripples of a stone thrown into a pond will spread further and further away from the source, so the ripples of the disaster in 1948 hit my parents first and then spread to us and to our children long afterwards. Seeing only the ripples, it was easy to confuse the original cause with its effects.”

Isaac Asimov: “I found myself in the odd position of not being a Zionist” – 69

Isaac Asimov about zionism
Isaac Asimov about zionism

Isaac Asimov quote:

“As usual, I found myself in the odd position of not being a Zionist and of not particularly valuing my Jewish heritage…. I just think it is more important to be human and to have a human heritage; and I think it is wrong for anyone to feel that there is anything special about any one heritage of whatever kind. It is delightful to have the human heritage exist in a thousand varieties, for it makes for greater interest, but as soon as one variety is thought to be more important than another, the groundwork is laid for destroying them all.”
